Is Greg Bird really innocent?

In the world of sport, it seems the higher profile you are, the more you can get away with. How many players got their English Visa's denied yet still this bloke broke the law and ends up playing in the UK for most of his stint with Catalans Dragons.

OK, so Greg Bird went through his court case and he didn't get convicted of glassing his girlfriend. But what confuses me about this whole thing is that Greg decided to throw the blame on his "good mate" Brett Watson. Now that was the initial idea. I wouldn't expect much less from a bloke who plays rugby league for a ridiculous amount of money with a huge ego. Poor Watson was blamed from the begging until the near death of the case. Simple case of I said/he said. Who would you be more likely to listen to? A NRL star who has represented NSW or a bloke that has nothing? Whats more startling was his girlfriend, Kate Milligan, wasn't telling anything, then backed Greg's story. Of course she would. Truth was Brett wasn't to blame, he was just a fall guy.

Only recently Katie Milligan suggested that she was mucking around with Greg, and she said she smashed her own face on the beer bottle she had in her hand. Wait a sec, didn't she say Brett Watson glassed her? Hmmmmmmm something is going on here, don't you think?

The Verdict came out that Greg Bird was totally innocent, which i think is a load of bull crap. How many different story's were told? The above was just a couple, i know there were more, i just cant source them all. Bird will still be in court for abusing another women (oh yeah, another one!), although of course the general public has come out to support the former NRL superstar and much like the glassing case, is a matter or he said/she said incidents that obviously the higher profile person will get the backing of.

All in all, Greg Bird is not innocent. The major issue coming out of this and time and time again just frustrates the life out of me, when will these highly paid players start getting treated like regular citizens. I know for a fact that if someone is convicted of a crime, they have to stay in the country, but none of this applied to Bird, he was set free and allowed to join a French League side. Did you also know that people convicted of a crime are also not allowed to travel overseas? Yet another obstacle a high profile person can get round, yet your average Joe that has a record or conviction would get in major strife if he/she tried the similar.

Anyone that's enough of my venting. I'm exhausted. Remember i can be caught on facebook or on msn at jimmysticks@hotmail.com
